JetSocks: How It Works

First, a few words about frost.

Frost forms during times of the year most people wouldn't call winter time, or even cold for that matter. It's doesn't have to be bad weather, snow, ice, or freezing rain. In fact, frost forms on nights when most people would call good weather.

So the basics of how our JetSocks work is that when the flying surfaces have our covers installed, the frost forms on the cover itself, not the aircraft. Take the covers off and you remove the contamination to reveal clean flying surfaces (wings, tail) ready for departure.

Here are a few diagrams to illustrate the point.

Installation and Removal

They're Not "Socks", Per Se

The covers are installed over the wing. They are not pulled on over the tip of the wing like a pair of socks on your feet. If they were like traditional socks, we could never protect the static wicks from damage. Installing over the top of the wing and buckling underneath ensures problem free installation by your ground crew.

Installs In 20 Minutes

A two man ground crew can install each set in 20 minutes, and they come off even faster.

Put them on at night, take them off when it's time to fly. It really is that simple.
